ECOTOURISM

TOURISM THAT SUPPORTS LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Miassine develops a form of tourism that combines discovery and commitment. By supporting local initiatives, we promote responsible tourism, where each trip directly contributes to the economic and social development of the regions visited.

We design tours that offer travelers authentic encounters with local people, the discovery of traditional know-how, and the chance to contribute directly to regional economic development.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES THROUGH TOURISM

Far from mass tourism, our actions aim to empower rural populations by giving them the means to welcome travelers in the best possible conditions:

ARPI LAKE - A MODEL OF ECOTOURISM BASED ON SOLIDARITY

In the remote northwestern regions of Armenia, around Lake Arpi, the Miassine Foundation is launching an ambitious ecotourism project to support refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh and local families affected by the 2020 war. The goal is to transform these often-overlooked territories into responsible and sustainable tourist destinations.

Supported by local institutions and the Swiss Embassy, the Lake Arpi project is now a showcase for social innovation and rural resilience. It demonstrates that tourism, when carefully planned, can become a genuine lever for local development and post-crisis reconstruction.

WINTER SPORTS IN ASHOTSK: ACTIVE ECOTOURISM

On the snow-covered heights of Ashotsk, at an altitude of 2,000 meters, the Miassine Foundation has launched a cross-country ski initiation program open to all, particularly young displaced persons from Karabakh.

More than 500 children and teenagers have already discovered this gentle and accessible sport, thanks to the availability of equipment, organized transportation, and friendly supervision. In collaboration with Swiss resorts such as Verbier, the program is enriched by international know-how to help create a sustainable winter sports culture in Armenia.

Through this project, we are transforming a simple sporting activity into a real lever of resilience and opportunity for mountain villages. The aim: to sow the seeds of local, eco-responsible and forward-looking winter tourism.
